Join Henderson Libraries and your fellow book-lovers this summer as we read and discuss the novel, The Island of Sea Women, written by Lisa See, New York Times bestselling author of more than ten books, including The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, and On Gold Mountain.
We have copies available at our libraries and online, both in English and Spanish. Read the book, return it or share it with a friend, and then join us on July 27 for a Virtual Author Visit with Lisa See.
What is this book about?
The Island of Sea Women is a classic tale about the endurance of friendship. Mi-ja and Young-sook, two girls living on a Korean island, are best friends that come from very different backgrounds. When they are old enough, they begin working with their village's all-female diving collective. Despite their love for each other, Mi-ja and Young-sook's differences are impossible to ignore. Little do the two friends know that after surviving hundreds of dives and developing the closest of bonds, forces outside their control will push their friendship to the breaking point.
Where can I find the book online?
